New Year, New Habits

After an outstanding General Conference in Melbourne, many of us are primed and ready for the new year. At the outset of 2017, we have the opportunity to chart a new course knowing that we are older and hopefully wiser than in the previous year.

46068_new_year_11Let us make the most of our mistakes from the past by not repeating them but applying God’s wisdom and revelation to our lives. Last week, I mentioned the importance of keystone habits that can have a flow on effect on other habits for the better. So from here on, focus on some major habits and be diligent on ensuring that you follow through with them.

For the Christian of course, the keystone habits are the ones that Jesus exemplified and that is prayer and knowledge of God’s Word. Make it your keystone habit to pray and read God’s Word daily. If this can be part of your daily routine everyday for the next six to eight weeks, it will become a habit that will influence your character and ultimately bring you to your destiny.

Church attendance, giving, fasting and witnessing are some of the other habits that are sure to follow and will cause you to become a ‘Contagious’ and ‘Effective’ Christian for God’s glory.

Hebrews 10:25 – Not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Busy Week

Happy Thursday everybody! I’m sure we are all looking forward to a great Easter. Well the youth are off tomorrow for the UPCA National Youth Camp. It should be a wonderful time for them of fun, fellowship and spiritual growth!

This weekend the POS will be celebrating Easter. This is always a good time to invite family and friends to celebrate the real reason for this special holiday. It just so happens that Easter falls on our annual ‘Family Sunday’ so there will only be one service this weekend at 10am. This will give you a chance to come to the House of God as well as spend time with your family.

On to the good stuff! We have had a busy week updating our podcast as well as our YouTube channel with a few new videos. Last night we were all blessed with the wonderful ministry of Rev Joshua Carson. He preached an incredible message entitled A New Knot In An Old Net (you can listen to it here). Below are the videos we recently uploaded to YouTube. You can watch the entire sermons here (Pastor Stan’s) and here (Sis Jena’s). Hope you are blessed!

Christmas Celebration

This past Christmas we were blessed to be able to celebrate it with our church family. The POS Music Team lead us in a wonderful concert of traditional carols and powerful worship songs. That was followed by a great message from Pastor Stan. We have uploaded a few of the songs to youtube, and the entire service is on our podcast (you can watch it here).

Over the last few weeks we have been working hard to update the POS Podcast. The look is completely different (we think it’s much better) and there are many cool new features. This video walks you through the podcast and shows you how you can maximise your experience. We hope you continue to enjoy the podcast and let us know your opinions by commenting!
